Looking to educate myself on LTAC facilities – who are the key decision makers and how open they are to new technologies. Anyone have insights they could share? Thank you! source: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/78665/78665-6390321518814990338 Marked as spam

In the past, some of my customers were LTAC’s. They are designed to treat serious ill patients that require hospital stays of 30 days or longer. Many patients are on vents and medically compromised. Select Specialty and Kindreds are examples. My call-points
included nursing managers and directors. Marked as spam

Be careful about LTACs. My experience is that they are poorly staffed, do not do great jobs with rehabbing the patients. They are sites for those, as mentioned above, require long-term ventilators, feeding tubes and more complicated dressings. When we admit people from these facilities, they often have bedsores and more complications even though these things should be well-taken care of!

Sue, I ran and owned several LTAC's and we always did an excellent job of rehabbing these patients. In fact they received better care than anywhere else. LTAC's are like free standing ICU's and the level of care is very high so I don't know whom you were dealing with but they are the exception and not the norm.
