If a GMDN database is the same as TGA GMDN database? Or maybe they are two different bases??I found the website GMDN agency, but I can’t find TGA GMDN website…If Australia has its own GMDN code?

Steve Kent There isn't a TGA GMDN website as such. TGA publish a Public ARTG Summary for each registered medical device. This has the GMDN and brief definition at the bottom of the .pdf document (see https://www.ebs.tga.gov.au/). The catch is that these documents are fixed when they are published on their database, so one example - ARTG 118828 - was published in 2005. GMDNs can become obsolete or are replaced over time, so the original GMDN on these documents may not be current. One can assume (or not!) that very recent Public ARTG summaries do have the current GMDN.

I hope this helps clarifying your question.

Arthur Brandwood TGA does publish its GMDNS database - but only to those who have an account on the TGA ebusiness service at https://www.ebs.tga.gov.au/. You need to be a sponsor in Australia do get one.

It's also worth knowing that TGA is in the process of realigning their database with the European code table - but it's a work in progress, and the database is of course continuing to evolve at the same time.

By the way - if you're in the US - come meet us at the Asia Pacific Device Summit in San Francisco in March- there's a couple of sessions on Australia/TGA as well as expert presentations on China, ASEAN, Japan and more see asiapacificdevicesummit.com
