I’m interested in finding a packaging company for a plastic package for a 12′ X 2″ foam medical device for hospital use. How do I find packaging companies for this small device? Thanks.

There are fantastic resources on upward.com for package design. You can put out a bid and get back multiple responses from very gifted people.

There are some fundamental questions you need to answer to determine what sort of packaging you need, and whether you are looking for a packaging designer, contractor or just a supplier.

For example, is the product sterile, will it be unpacked by an end user at patient, or in prep, what documentation and labelling is required to accompany the device, is the packaging part of the disposal system or to be discarded at unpacking, will there be secondary and tertiary packing cases required for storage and shipment and what are the size limits of these etc?

The answers to questions like this will help narrow down the scope of work you are seeking, and thus who are possible suppliers.

Monique van Eyck
Sealed air has also very innovative solutions!

Christopher O’Connor

Hey Chris, Try Cygnus Medical (www.cygnusmedical.com). They have an existing product, SingleCycle, which might be what you are looking for.

Martin Whitfill
Transparent Container is in your back yard and they do plastic rigid packaging like clamshells and boxes. I think their plant is at Midway. If it gets really strange or needs barrier materials or clean room materials, I can look at it.

Abbey Ambrose
Check out http://www.bargerpackaging.com/

I think young an efficient method of finding what you were looking for.

Joe Macis
Orange packaging. They are located in Newburgh NY. Third generation family owned. Excellent people.

Kimber Burley
I’m assuming you mean 12 inches and not 12 feet x 2 inches.

Jon Lant
I’m working on a medical device of similar dimensions Chris. I’d be interested to discuss in more detail.

Karen Koenes

If you need in large quantity, you can find supplier or manufacturer from China…

Sharon Witkowski
Try Uline.

Marvin Wong
Be mindful of the requirements needed for packaging. Will it be for shipping domestic? International? What type of testing is required to validate. Does it require a sterile barrier? Does the company you select handle that for you or will you have to have several sources.
Just a few thoughts to let folks know it may not be “just need a box” answer.

Diego Aristizabal
Chris, This gentleman is a great resource! Give him a call–> Scott Thomas

Dr. Ulrich Eggert
Please get in Touch with me, maybe I can help

Giancarlo Boldori

Maybe Omnicell in St.Petersburg, FzL

Christopher O’Connor

Carly Hardy
You could also work with Sabre Medical in Sydney. They can go through your sterility validations and transport testing also to prove your ability to present a sterile device at the hospital, as well as working with and supplying packaging from a number of major international suppliers.

Howard Thau
There is no one simple solution nor supplier for every application. Based on the specific requirements for barrier properties, handling procedures, quantity, and secondary packaging there are some great long term partners available to you.

Hannah Abouassaad
Try ufandl logistics, they have a very good reputation, the amazing lash studio used them in Houston were please.
