Hello everyone! I have a question: How do you search for a needed medical device (if you need it)? Do you call or write to a manufacturer directly or do you search through your local distributor? Thank you in advance for answers! Have a good Friday! source: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/78665/78665-6147891841393061892 Marked as spam

i'd suggest to write to the manufacturer directly and see how it goes. if they don't reply, well, try again :-) just check and double check the manufacturer is legit.. a little bit of homework goes a long way.

It depends on whether the manufacturer is an established player or a fringe player. Major device makers usually have global markets covered through a widespread network of local distributors. Medical device sector is increasingly becoming competitive and sometimes it is hard to find a local supplier of a particular make, in situations like these writing directly to the manufacturer works out best as your request would get forwarded internally to their local distributor.

Can you provide more information? There are several factors to consider before answering your question. Examples: Are you considered a competitor by the manufacturer? What are you going to do with it?
This brings up a current issue that we are dealing with at Alethea Spine. We need a competitor's interbody fusion cages for comparative testing for our 510(k) submission. None of the competitors will sell it to us, so we have to use "alternative" methods to obtain them (i.e. purchase them from a distributor or through a hospital). Marked as spam

Charles F. Birchall, Jr. we need to buy some equipment for dermatology clinic (lazers and so on). It seems more reasonable to buy directly from the manufacturer as distributors may have higher prices, but it may be faster to buy through distributors. MAy be you have such an experience and can help me by your advice. Thanks in advance)

I'd suggest to ask the manufacturer who is their official distributor in your country. If there is, then there could be an obligation to purchase from the distributor (as cutting out their own distributor is, well, ...not wise..)
if there's no distributor, then next step is to check import requirements. Import, and not just regulatory. hope that helps. and assuming that the manufacturer is legit.. Cheers, Ee Bin Marked as spam

Have you decide wich model want to buy? If not, you can check some options on www.medicalexpo.com
Contact the manufacturer and ask who is the local distributor. Otherwise you must to check regulatory and import requirements for you country and it may be more difficult and expensive for you. Marked as spam

Hello Irina, what i do, is to contact direclty to the manufacturer, then they will guide me if they can sell me that equipment directly or if they will forward me with the authorized dealer or distributor. Like some people said here, you may check if you need any additional regulatory and import requirements so in that case would be better to buy from local distributor

You should contact local distributor if any because in the end you might need after sales service and training for your medical device, plus there too many hassels are to bring the medical equipment from another country if you are importing i.e import taxes/duty,local regulations etc, so its easier and convenient for you to contact local supplier and also there is a chance that most of the manufacturer may divert you to local thier distributor.

Check out the manufacturer's website, then check compare what your needs/your clients' needs are compared to what device companies are offering. Check out the device companies solutions offerings (what else can they offer apart from a piece of machinery, i.e. Service, full departments, planning) and then contact their distributor or the nearest sales office - that would be my suggestion,

Hi, if you got full knowledge about medical device, you should contact to a reliable manufacturer. you can find manufacturer very easily, if you contact by email or phone call to a local chamber of commerce & industry .in this way you can buy a cheaper and perfect device from a manufacturer.
