I am the most dedicated, convicted, relentless sales professional professional who will always go above and beyond to be a top performer with a resume that shows how hard I push myself to get what I want. However, I have not yet found one company to give me an opportunity in Medical or Dental sales. If I can get a 4 year degree while also working 90 hours a week, that should be evidence that I will learn the business faster and exceed any expectations. Why You Should Hire For Potential, Not ExperienceWhen you’re hiring, look past the experience candidates come with, to the potential for them to grow into the perfect fit for your company. source: https://www.linkedin.com/groups/4372308/4372308-6237162113693999107 Marked as spam

Have you considered cardiac pacing school? ATI is a big one. Both Medtronic, Boston Scientific (Guidant of old) and St. Jude (now Abbott) used to hire people who graduated from these programs often. No additional experience beyond that. Plus, going to the program gives you a huge advantage once you get hired and start your training with the company. It might be worth the investment. It is a very intense, completely all-in and very rewarding option, if that is what you are looking for.

Regarding the additional education with something through ATI , I have not considered that. Are those opportunities directly related to sales positions(I haven't done my homework yet)? With the amount of knowledge available on the internet, typically I am able to educate myself enough to discuss they products, comparable to their competitors, learn what reps for what distributors are more established in the territory and division and explain the details of the surgical procedures in relationship to their products in the interview. I use the knowledge to express how I would differentiate myself, including a 90 day performance plan with specific details. So my question is, based on your experience, will that open more opportunities to get an interview in sales positions? That's my challenge is getting through the electronic application process just to get on the phone the right person. From there I can sell myself. I will do additional homework however I appreciate your feedback.

Regarding independent reps and 100% commission, I am not in a position at this time financially to go that route, It is not about a high base, just something with enough to cover basic expenses. I just turned down an offer from previous employer (NOT RELATED TO MEDICAL), with the increased compensation recently offered (65k +monthly bonus potential of 2k) I am ok starting with a base of 40k to get by with high commission potential without a cap or commissions. I just recently started networking to open up doors, such as these conversations, using linkedin. If it is medical or dental sales, once I have a chance, that's an opportunity I will value of more than anything and crush it. My dad has been in medical sales (spine/equipment/surgical) for 30 years, so I have a very good idea of what it takes to be successful and that is where part the passion comes from, including the work/family balance available as long as you crush performance.
