I'm not sure it even rises to that level, Joe. First time around, investors were supposedly fooled into thinking the company had technology that would revolutionize lab testing. Now it doesn't seem to have anything to fool anyone with.

I agree Joe. What the ...? At least I think my retirement funds are not co-investing with Fortress..... But I am not there is another Elizabeth Holmes shyster out there and maby venture capitalists who are distracted by young things in black turtle necks.

I'm not good with this stuff, butthe article says that Fortress is "set to be acquired by Japan's Softbank." Could this be some kind of strategic move related to that acquisition?

It's just a loan to keep them solvent through 2018, but I hope they use it well. There’s still a lot of promise in Theranos IMO

OK, so maybe it would be useful to the acquisition to make a bad loan that can be written off as a loss later, perhaps after the acquisition has been finalized? Any corporate finance gurus in this crowd want to take a stab at this one? It could be just a cigar, but it could also be a laser.

It's their money, but why bother with Theranos until they can actually prove they can do something for themselves. I would think Fortress could have done much better by investing is several new technology start-ups.
