What are some of the best Medical Device Trade shows to attend?
4 min reading time

As originally asked by Thomas Dettmer.

Aron D. Haber
Sales Manager at Gerresheimer | Contract Manufacturing Services for Medical Device & Pharmaceutical Device OEMs
The MD&M Minneapolis show in late October is fairly well attended by many engineers and marketing people from the local Medical Device companies such as Medtronic, Covidien, Boston Scientific, St. Jude, Vascular Solutions and the many companies that support product development and manufacturing of the products. ISurTec made our debut in 2013 and plan to display again in 2014.

Any suggestions about events specifically for regulatory affairs and policy setting in USA .??

Nannette Nolan
Director of Marketing Communications at Life Sciences Trainers & Educators Network (LTEN)
I think it really does depend on what you’re looking for. I worked for UBM Canon before coming to the Society of Pharmaceutical and Biotech trainers and we hosted event aimed at every phase of medical device development — design and prototyping all the way through mass production, post-market surveillance, and packaging. You can check those out at ubmcanon.com. They are all over the US and there’s always one going on somewhere in the US. They have sister events internationally too — MEDTEC events.

If I had to recommend two — I would say MEDTEC Europe and MD&M West in Anaheim are the big ones.

The Society of Pharmaceutical and Biotech Trainers is hosting an upcoming medical device training event focused solely on topics hitting medical sales trainers. Could be a good one for sales reps, program managers and marketers as well. MDD2013.com or ping me (nnolan@spbt.org) if you’d like more info.

Happy hunting!

Hello everybody,

This year we are planning to attend Medica in Dusseldorf, Bio-Europe in Viena, JIB in Paris and in January probably Arab Health. I will publish a rating by the end of the year with comments and scores for each trade-show attended.
In case any of you is searching for a reliable translation partner specialised in medical content and covering most EU languages and Chinese, this is Paspartu Translation Services.
You can reach me at diana@paspartu.gr.
Thanks.

I’m interested to hear how trade shows have performed for you on a related string.

If you have a moment, please visit [] and answer, “Are you exhibiting at trade shows at the same rate you used to, and what is your return on investment?”

Thanks.

P.S. Are any of you planning to go to the [http://medgroup.biz/hida|leo://plh/http%3A*3*3medgroup%2Ebiz*3hida/Jxay?_t=tracking_disc] conference?

@Rana, I am looking for finished goods products suppliers.

Rana Tufail
Director Business Development | Marketing at AME World Wide LLC USA
@jerry what kind of suppliers are you searching for?

Achal Shenoy
Director International Sales at Salter Labs
MEDICA held in Dusseldorf, Germany, Arab Health held in Dubai and CMEF in China are some of the well known trade shows.

Jerry Wu
Shanghai
Nobody yet mentioned World Medtech Forum in Lucern and Medical Fair Brno in Czech Republic. Are they good places to search for medical device suppliers?

Stuart Herskovitz
QOSINA Founder and Chairman of the Board
The MD&M show exhibitors are providing products and services to medical device manufacturers. If you seek components, tubing, packaging, molding, this is the show for you. (or just visit www.qosina.com, we do it all) We just did the East show, it will return to New York next year, and will be larger than the much smaller regional shows Minneapolis/Florida/Texas/Chicago. West (Anaheim) is still the largest in the USA with the most exhibitors. But, the shows do draw regional exhibitors- so if you are in MSP and want to find a local molder, visit that show- you may not find the same exhibitor base in another geographic area like Florida (which is an every-other-year show). FIME features finished products, and equipment for sale to distributors, with a heavy emphasis on the Latin American market. Different visitors (distributors not design engineers). Qosina does 24 device shows a year, world-wide, I’m happy to share my thoughts on any of them.

What about FIME in Florida, is this the biggest medical device trade fair in USA? Is it more worth going than MD&M East or West.
What do people think about MD&M Minneapolis/Florida/Texas/Chicago, are they very different from each other?

John D. Miller
Principal at Private Consulting
John Miller, MBA………Thomas, too broad a question as you should identify the global regions you are interested in marketing the product(s), the type of medical/biopharmaceutical device(s) you are marketing, who your key decesion makers/target audiences are, convention budget size…………only then, can relevant information be developed to adress your question.

Nancy Yang
Foreign trade salesman at Dongguan Bizhuo Electronics Co., Ltd.
A good topic!

Kent Messick
Freelance writer and instructor
Medica and Arab Health are the top choices, along with Hospitalar in Brazil. But you might find that smaller surgical conferences where you can target a specific device in a particular market is a better option, especially if you have a small budget.

It is very good for us. And we can touch many professional distributors or other target customers from them. So I recommend them to you and hope it can help you.
