iPads Instead of Pitch Books

Are pitch books obsolete? Group member Fred Cohen thinks so. He writes,

“Binders and pitch books, while still effective in some ways, rarely hold-up in a modern-day presentation. They are too static.

You’ve probably heard about companies equipping their sales forces with iPads. iPads are ideal for presentations because they enhance learning and information flow.

In essence, you can customize each presentation – on the fly – to the style of your prospect. If he prefers videos, jump to the video section. If she wants detailed specifications, click on a hyperlink to a PDF. If they have questions about installation, etc., it’s all there for you.

Engagement is the key. And you don’t have to “drive” the presentation. You can put the power of the iPad in the prospects hands. Let him or her visit the sections of interest and you can guide them along. It’s similar to letting them surf the web – no web access required (especially helpful in hospital basements with limited Internet access).

An Example

orayaClient Oraya Therapeutics asked us to develop their company story on an iPad for a recent trade show.

The first step was understanding the flow of the story they wanted to tell. We developed a road map, an interactive path to navigate from one section to another called a Graphical User Interface (GUI). You can see the Site Map GUI to the right (click to enlarge).

Using animation, video, PDF files, photos, and key information about their company, it was easy in a trade show environment to engage attendees.

Have you graduated to interactive presentations? If not, what’s keeping you?”
